Since the discovery of the first exoplanets in the early 1990s, we have discovered over 4000 worlds beyond our Sun. Many of these are close to the Earth in size, leading to an obvious question: could any be habitable? At the moment, we typically only know the size and orbit of these planets and nothing about their surface conditions. But while we cannot know for sure if these worlds could support life, we can use models to speculate on what we might find there. In this talk, we’ll take such a speculative stroll along the surfaces of a few of the most alien worlds we’ve discovered in the Galaxy and ask if any might have somebody already there.
